Georgia on your mind

  1. I could not detect any bias in the "Voice of America" article. I "The EU sponsored report lays the blame for the five-day war on both sides." In the "Time Magazine" article it kind of says that Georgia is more at fault. "...it was an overly aggresive response to the provacation." This is probably more bias because the investigation was held by Russian military officials. Obviously in the "Russia Today" article Georgia is in their mind at fauly. The first line says "Georgia is responsible..." The RIA/Novosti was not really for either side. They just stated facts that happened throughout the week of the invasion.

  2. In every situation like this someone is going to point the finger at the other side. In "Russia Today" one of the first statements was "Georgia is responsible" this is a very bold bias comment which totally puts all blame on Georgia. From the other side Georgia thinks that Russia commited a war crime because they were not trying to defend but retaliated in a harsh and inhumane way.If i wanted to find a none bias view on this conflict i would pick "Voice of America" because the reporter was nuetral and did not take a side on the conflict.

  3. The story that stuck out to me the most by not being bias is "Voice of America". They told both sides of the story and explained how each side felt, giving the reader a choice of what to believe or not believe. Either way no one can trust a article because they are just trying to sell thier article, make money, and most time make people believe their point of view.

  4. After reading the articles I noticed that Time Magazines seemed to side with the people of georgia more than russia. The first thing that stuck out to me was the first picture on the home page. It shows a goergian man holding a dead loved one crieng. Later in the article Time magazine states that the people of georgia were prevoked by russia building up their military. If i had to choose a magazine that was unbias id have to go with Voice of America. I feel that this magazine stayed completely neutral with their article.

  5. I think the only truly biast article was the one done by "Russia Today". They claimed Georgia was responsible. The least biast article was the "Voice of America" article. The article didn't really take one side or the other but instead presented both sides.

  6. In the Time article I noticed that they biased their opinions to agree with the people of Georgia. It says that Russia was prevoking Georgia and in the beginning of the article it has a picture of a Goergian man crying. This shows bias because it makes people feel sorry for the people of Georgia when they in fact could have been to blame for that.

  7. the artical that stuck out to me for being the most bias, was "Russia Today." its kind of obviouse that they wouldnt blame themselves, even if they knew they were at fault, what stood out to me was their first statment, "Georgia is responsible for unleashing the Five-Day War in the Caucasus last August." Even the title of the artical blames it on Georgia. I think they do this so that when a reader who is not so familiar with the war reads it, they automatically assume that it must be Russias fault.

  8. After reading the articles I found that the Time Magazine placed blame on both Russia and Georgia, saying that "neither country can escape blame." Voice of America also says that "both Georgia and Russia bear responsibility for last year's bloody five-day conflict." On the other side of things, Russia Today blames Georgia for starting the conflict between the countries; "Georgia is responsible for unleashing the Five-Day War in the Caucasus last August."

  9. I saw the "Russia Today" article to be really biased compared to the other articles. They said Georgia was responsible for this huge event. An example of the "Russia Today" stating that Georgia was responsible is when they say "The group concluded that it was Georgia who fired the first shot and the opening attack was not justifiable under international law."

The "Voice of America" really wasn't that biased, it was hard for them to be because they presented both sides. They talked about how both sides felt and that gave the reader a chance to form their own opinion.

  10. The russia today article i think was one of the most biased articles it starts out saying "Georgia is responsible for unleashing the Five-Day War in the Caucasus last August." It puts all the blame on Georgia claiming it is their fault and they fired the first shot making Russia seem innocent. I also noticed in Time that they had a picture of a man crying who is holding a loved one who is dead in their arms. Making the reader feel sorry for Georgia.
The article that I think was most neutral would be Voice of America which presented both sides of the story.

  11. I believe that the "Russia today article is the most bias of them all. seeing how the first sentence in the article states " Georgia is responsible for unleashing the Five-Day War in the Caucasus last August" but as for the one that i think is the lest bias would be "voice of America" just because it appears that they do not pick a side at all.

  12. Voice of America says that neither side is at blame in this war. Time Magazine on the other hand partially puts the blame on Georgia saying that it fired the first shots, but Russia provoked Georgia into doing so. Russia Today puts all the blame on Georgia clearly stating Georgia is responsible for unleashing the Five-Day War". The last article RIA/Novosti blames Georgia for the conflict as well.
